Cowbridge History Society

About Us

Cowbridge History Society has its origins in the early 1970s. The current Society was formed from the merger of the Cowbridge and District Local History Society and the Cowbridge Record Society in 2013. Today it has nearly 90 members. You can read more about us on our History page.

Our main objectives are to provide a series of lectures and talks, to conduct research and publish the history of the local area, and to make visits to places of historical interest.

We also manage the The History Room in Old Hall, Cowbridge. This is a wonderful resource for anyone interested in the local history, and is a repository of many documents and photographs of the town and the rural Vale of Glamorgan. See opposite for more details and opening hours.

In addition, the Society can offer small grants for specific research projects. For details, please go to our Grants page.

The History Room

The Society has its study centre located in a room within Old Hall, High Street, Cowbridge CF71 7AH.
The public are welcome to visit us: we are open most Wednesday mornings, 10:00 – 12:00.
